CHANGE YOURSELF
Guilt is good,
Don’t change it if you could.
It keeps you from messing up your soul
And the neighborhood.
Change yourself!
It’s easier than you think.
The trick is to do less, not more.
Mainly, open the door.
Mom was poor as poor could be.
But she got an opportunity
To outshine all the rest
Just by saying yes.
If you want the peace that’s inner,
Don’t aim to be the winner.
Serve the homeless a meatloaf dinner.
A rake was in his iniquity den
When he opened a Bible
With effect indescribable,
And never looked back again.
If you want to be a leader,
Don’t bring other people down.
Go find yourself some higher ground.
A man disappeared without a trace,
Then got hit in the face
With some amazing grace
And led his people to a better place.
Don’t change the social order.
If you want to redistribute wealth,
You’ll change them all when you change yourself!
I once knew these eleven motley guys
Who struck me as puppies in human disguise.
Then their master threw them a heavenly bone.
You don’t have to change yourself alone.
