Poem: We’re In Love But We Don’t Know It

WE’RE IN LOVE BUT WE DON’T KNOW IT

We’re backseat drivers riding shotgun,
Debating directions, never finding one.
The trip’s been long, the road’s been rough,
But there’s love in the tank and that’s enough.

Though our styles are miles apart,
Without your key my car won’t start.
When my speed’s too high, you bring it down,
After every wrong turn, you turn me around.

When you hiccup, I say God blessed you,
Others see tension but I see the rest of you,
The pretty part that’s past the test of you,
Every road leads me back to the best of you.

We’re in love but we don’t know it,
We need each other but hate to show it.
We fight like alley cats all through the night,
Staying together feels so right.
