EXIT INTERVIEW
As I sat on the sofa watching TV,
Then, POOF — They materialized right in front of me,
The Man in Black and the Man in White.
‘Tis a wonder I did not die of fright.
Black said, you’re coming up on Judgment Day,
Any last words you’d like to say?
For my bad behavior I could rattle off
Excuses by the score,
Ones I’m sure you’ve heard
A billion or two times before.
But prior to my final test,
Here’s what I want off my chest.
I humbly propose
When you guys wash your clothes,
Separate lights from darks
To prevent the current state
Of anything goes.
Alas, the way things stand,
I’m forced to say,
Everything you wear is gray.
My every moral inclination
Is subject to interpretation,
Resulting in
A perpetual moral haze,
Never knowing for certain
Whether I’m serving God or Satan.
White replied, if actions were etched in moral stone,
You’d have no will to call your own.
Then Black chimed in,
No matter what you choose,
You’ll either win or lose.
So sign right here and be on your way,
Where you’re heading
He can’t yet say.
