Poem: Truth

Socrates Looking in a Mirror, by Bernard Vaillant

TRUTH

One day, Satan seemed evil to me,
The next day, quite astute.
Could truth, in fact, be relative,
Instead of absolute?

I pondered and I analyzed
Until finally I realized
My mood and my perception
Had led me to a false conception.

Perception is reality reflected,
And as such must be well inspected.
When a thought takes hold inside us
Can reality be affected —
A question even the best of minds
Often leave neglected.
