Poem: Cartoon Heaven

CARTOON HEAVEN

I just checked out of Purgatory,
Let’s not go there;
It’s another lifetime,
And a rather painful story.

When I got where I was going,
It was really a thrill
To find all my old friends
Were with me still.

The Tasmanian Devil meditates like a saint,
As Daffy takes it all in, expressing no complaint.
Elmer Fudd is a steadfast vegetarian,
So Bugs stays quiet as a bespectacled librarian.
Pepe LePew smells sweet as a rose;
Marvin the Martian has no dictatorship to impose.
Sylvester’s articulation is spot-on correct;
Tweety’s acquired a prodigious intellect.
Wile E. Coyote plays volleyball under the seaside sun,
So Road Runner’s paunchy, having nowhere to run.
Yosemite Sam has holstered his gun.
And Porky Pig — he’s lost a ton.

Yes, our world is no longer chaotic;
Instead it is harmonious,
Serene, and melodic.
So while Taz and I enjoy the heat and unwind,
Here in the land of the sweet and the kind,
You’ll be watching TV
With your smart phone on your knee,
Watching shotguns blast rabbits
And other nasty habits
Sent over the air waves
Into your cartoon caves,
There in the land
Where nobody behaves.
